Hineatauira (Ira) Wilkinson (née Jenkins)

Ira is a Queen Victoria old girl from 1984 to 1987 and a Chartered Accountant registered with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Ira graduated from the University of Auckland - B.Com. After university Ira entered the graduate recruitment programme at Staples Rodway Chartered Accountants - 2nd tier accounting firm in Auckland CBD.
After working 5 years at Staples Rodway Ira and her husband Dion did their OE settling in Dublin Ireland in 2000 for almost 3 years. Ireland was experiencing huge growth during this time due to an aggressive 10% income tax rate offered to large international corporates, the EU was providing substantial funding for infrastructure and the Euro was being introduced. A new financial services business district was established in the centre of Dublin where Ira worked. During this period Ira also travelled extensively throughout Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Russia, Turkey, USA, Africa/Sth Africa and Peru. Ira returned home in late 2003.
Ira currently works at Eyeworks New Zealand, a television production company in Auckland as a Management Reporting Accountant.
Ira has many years of governance experience from serving on a number of Boards and Committees within the Anglican Church and in the Community. She also has significant professional management, investment and financial experience gained during her professional career.
Ira has 3 daughters. The two eldest children attend Newton Central School and are enrolled in the Te Uru Karaka Rumaki Reo total immersion unit. Her youngest goes to puna reo. Ira is committed to educating her children in te reo me te Ao Maori. Ira ensures the children maintain their links to their hau kainga by frequently returning to their papa kainga in Tokomaru Bay.
