Bernard Te Paa



Bernard is a senior executive manager with over 20 years’ experience working with government agencies, industry, Iwi and the education sector.  Bernard’s primary focus has been to drive improved social and economic well-being outcomes for Aucklanders, Maori and other diverse communities in New Zealand through innovative health proactive and service delivery models.

Within his present role as General Manager, Maori at Counties Manukau District Health Board, Bernard championed Nation Health Workforce programmes, facilitated joint ventures with public and private health providers, and devised regional equity health plans through research, consultation, policy and auditing processes.  Bernard has also successfully managed a $125 million building programme and had strategic input into the $500 million contracting portfolio of the Counties Manukau District Health Board.

His leadership capabilities and sound business approach has enabled Bernard to engage comfortably with a broad range of stakeholders encouraging new and innovative working partnerships between public and private sectors.
